Employers experienced an important victory this week in the fight against Obamacare. The Obama administration announced that the employer requirement to offer health insurance that meets new federal standards or face stiff penalties has been delayed from January 2014 to 2015 along with a number of related reporting requirements.
Many of us engaged in the fight to prevent government intrusion into the private health insurance market have been warning of the devastating impact to our local businesses and economy. Employers simply cannot afford Obamacare’s expensive new regulations. Perhaps this delay will allow time for the administration to recognize that this mandate will still be a bad idea with tragic consequences in 2015 and repeal the employer mandate entirely.
